The Risen Christ

That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad.
— Luke 24:13-17

Easter is not just about how Jesus defeated Satan and completed our imputed righteousness so that we could be justified in God’s sight. It is, but why did He do these things? He came back from the dead so that we could be together forever, and that is a very happy thought, one that you need to hear oday.

You see, Jesus ngages ith r orrow. Some of us are standing still, looking sad like the disciples here, many times for the right reasons, for things that should make anyone sad, but there is one thing you need to hear. This is not the end of the story! Notice it says: "Jesus himself drew near and went with them…” Hebrews 13:5 has Jesus promising us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you!” In Matt 28 he says, “and behold I am with you always...to the end of the age…” This is exactly what you need, His presence on the journey of discipleship!

In Prayer Today:
Seek His presence.
