Jesus Wins Part 1

Both the positive examples and the unfulfilled failures of the OT point us forward to the need for Jesus. Sometimes the same is true in your own life...sometimes God uses your failures more than your successes to teach you important lessons and point you to His Son! But the over-arching lesson is always clear in these daily struggles and battles, Jesus wins...and if you are united Christ by faith, you are victorious with him! Already!

od Desires Mercy In Our Lives

Joab was told, “The king is weeping and mourning for Absalom.” And for the whole army the victory that day was turned into mourning, because on that day the troops heard it said, “The king is grieving for his son.” The men stole into the city that day as men steal in who are ashamed when they flee from battle. The king covered his face and cried aloud, “O my son Absalom! O Absalom, my son, my son!”
— 2 Samuel 19:1-4

David knew that Absalom was wicked, but he had longed for his redemption, and he mourned at His death just like God does for sinners.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
— Romans 5:6-8

Sometimes you see how something didn't work out at all or was devastatingly awful and this lack or absolute mess points you forward to your need of Christ. David couldn't redeem his son, he couldn't send the Holy Spirit to change his heart, Jesus can.

We must not be indifferent or afraid, let alone vengeful or hateful to people who are not christians or are very different from us.  Hatred and fear are very potent forces, but when you go back to Jesus and receive his grace you, receive the more powerful forces of love and mercy, very powerful!

For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
— Hosea 6:6

osea says God wants a merciful heart in you as his people not just ritual worship! When will we turn from being Jonahs!? He didn’t want the sinners to be saved...but Christ has victoriously secured the salvation of sinners!

n Prayer Today:
Praise God that we can show mercy to others since Christ has had mercy on us.
