The Word of God 3

...for I delight in your commands because I love them.
— Psalm 119:47

Delight betrays the attitude of the heart...can we say the same as the Psalmist here? Kevin Deyoung in his book “Taking God at His Word” says: “In a world that prizes the new, the progressive, and the evolved, we need to be reminded that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8). And since he remains the same, so does his truth. Which means sometimes consistency is the better part of valor.” (pg. 120) Consistency in coming back to God and His decrees is crucial. A consistency is needed in our Bible-reading, Bible-believing, and Bible-obeying.

I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees.
— Psalm 119:48

Why does he crave the word of God? Because he craves God! Do you also reach out for God and His word?

A Christian recently told me that they have their Bible on the reading shelf next to their bed where they can see it when they go to sleep and wake up. I told them: “not good enough”. You must read it. And then then you must meditate on it and memorize it. And then obey it and cherish it. More than that you must believe it! O we of little faith! “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Psalms 119:103

In Prayer Today:

Reach out your arms for the commands of God, willingly.
