How to Pray: Admiration

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary.

Admiration is the first and most important aspect of prayer. By admiration we mean the praise of God and desire for fellowship with Him. In everyday terms the prayer is this: "Lord, Please give me more of yourself." This is the heart cry of David in the Psalms and not only the whole point of prayer but also the whole point of the Bible!

If your son or daughter called you, which request would be most pleasing to you: “Dad can I have some money?” “Please help me because there are some bullies here at the park about to beat me up?” or “Dad, can we spend some time together this afternoon?” which would you want the most?

Jesus is the one who has created the possibility of this fellowship with God for us through His life, death, and resurrection. Let us not leave the intended result of His work alone.

In Prayer Today:

Seek God for the sake of fellowship with Him.
