What is the Gospel?

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified. Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’ And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’
— Acts 2:36-38

The Gospel is the joyous message that Jesus Christ is Savior and King of all the earth! This is the most important thing you must be about as a Christian! For those who repent and believe, Jesus gives the gift of a new heart, a new righteousness and a new life in the Holy Spirit (Ezek. 36:25-27). You are united to Christ through His work, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, both now and forevermore.

This message of the Gospel must be received and it must be lived each day. If you are not living in the freedom of the gospel each day, you will fundamentally be an unhappy person. On the contrary, when the picture of Christ before you with open arms is your guiding vision each day then nothing can touch your joy. No trial or sin can distract you when your eyes are fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. When will we learn that our salvation is not primarily about us, but that it is about Christ and our union with Him? This is the good news of the gospel...share it with someone else today!
